If your skin care starts pilling, stop before foundation. Gently lift away the loose residue and leave the rest of the routine alone for the day. Next time, compare two small areas—one with the final skin-care layer and one without it—while applying your normal amount of sunscreen to both. That isolates the step worth changing without pretending to diagnose the formulas.

- Give the final layer time to settle. If residue is still sliding on the surface, gently lift away only that excess instead of rubbing across your whole face.
